About America’s Credit Union
In 1954 Fort Lewis Federal Credit Union (FLFCU) was founded on Joint Base Lewis McChord in Washington by a handful of civilian employees of the U.S. Government who wanted to offer their fellow co-workers an alternative to commercial banks and other for-profit financial institutions. In 1965 the field of membership was extended to military soldiers, giving many more opportunities for membership growth. The growth in membership has brought the need for new departments, an expansion of the Main branch, and an additional 15 new branch locations throughout Pierce and Thurston Counties.
